Name of the Project : 1200 MW Teesta Stage-III Hydropower Project.
The Project is a Joint Venture Project between the Government of Sikkim and M/s Teesta Urja Limited (A Govt. of Sikkim Enterprise), a Special Purpose Vehicle (SPV) formed for im-plementation of the Project. This Project is the biggest Project in terms of Installed Capcity in the State. The Government of Sikkim has 51% equity in the Project. The Project has been awarded to M/s Teesta Urja Limited on Build, Own, Operate & Transfer (BOOT) basis. The State will receive 12 % as royalty from the Project for the first 15 years after commissioning and thereafter @15% from 16th to 35thyear, after which the Project will revert back to State free of cost.
Location of Project:
The Dam of the Project is located near Chungthang (downstream of confluence of Lachungchu and Lachen Chu) in North Sikkim.
The underground Powerhouse is located near Ringdong village on the right bank of Teesta in North Sikkim.
Present Status of the Project:
The Project has been commissioned on 17th February 2017.
